4/23: CHANGE IN HOMEWORK POLICY FOR 8TH GRADERS:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we make our way towards the finish line for the 8th grade year, I am becoming ever more aware of the expectations looming ahead for your children. To better prepare them for their first "real" year in high school -- where every course will be on a transcript -- I am going to remove one of the training wheels I have on my class policies.
As of 5/1/15 (Friday), I will no longer accept late submissions for homework, projects, journals, or essays. All assignments will be expected to be in your child's hands at the start of class; assignments left behind at home, in a locker, or undone will not be accepted. The "0" that these unsubmitted assignments will earn can still be dropped at the end of the quarter if your child has earned homework passes or extra participation points in their "bank account".
If a child is confused about an assignment, s/he should give it his/her best effort and I will make arrangements to provide extra help at lunch or after school to finish it.
This change in policy is not being instituted to hurt your child or his/her grade; I hope you realize that is not the type of teacher I am. It is being done to give your children a better sense of the expectations of our 9th grade teachers. Everything I do is done with the best interests of my students in my mind and my heart.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. 845-406-4532.

Our young adults are living their private lives in a public forum and are not mindful of the potential legal, moral, and life-changing ramifications of their tweets, posts, and online photos. This HLN series is worth viewing!
